They rehearse, tirelessly, from evening to morning, one of the most beautiful ballets there is: La Bayadère. Our film follows the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet who were able to rehearse again during the lockdown in 2020.Jewel from the Paris Opera repertoire, La Bayadère is a mega-production with flamboyant sets and costumes that brings together on stage nearly 90 dancers of the company. Considered, along with Swan Lake, as one of Rudolf Nureyev's masterpieces, it is also one of the most technical and difficult ballets ever. An unmatched challenge for the dancers after long weeks of interruption and which testifies to the vital energy of dance. The Paris Opera, a (very) special season

A very interesting documentary, as seriously informed as it is charmingly entertaining. - Le Monde Famous for its ghost, the Garnier Opera of Paris is above all the product of a titanic building site and the symbol of the birth of a new era. From 1852 to 1870, eighteen years of flamboyance made Paris the capital of modernity.This 90-minute documentary aims to tell the story of the great Paris construction of the Garnier Opera House, which lasted 14 years (from 1861 to 1875). While plunging into the backstage, its wheels and its legends, it will explain the special place it occupied in what Nietzsche called the "civilization of opera", the golden age of the bourgeoisie based on the appearance and the spectacular, which was then put in place. By the admission of Charles Garnier, the Opera as a whole was to serve as stage for the new elite of the time. From the story of its construction and architectural details, we will open windows on historical, social, political and artistic themes that will be treated to the image by paintings, period photos, film clips, animations in 3D and historical evocations (fiction). We will also call on specialized speakers on these different themes. Interviewed in studio and in situ, they will guide us, step by step, in this building still alive and full of anecdotes. Throughout the story, we will also follow the myth of the ghost, invented from scratch by the novelist Gaston Leroux, and so well integrated into the monument that it remains today THE symbol and an important key to understanding. Finally, music and ballet will be present in this film, in the form of musical excerpts and lyrical performances. John Adams, a major musical figure of the last forty years, made this event of contemporary history the subject of his first opera.Nixon in China tackles the political thaw instigated by ping-pong diplomacy, begun by the invitation of the American table tennis players by their Chinese counterparts, one year before the presidential visit. Taking these flamboyant painted scenes as her starting point, representing different places in the world like so many different emotional states and humours, the choreographer Carolyn Carlson sets her dancers in motion to an original score by René Aubry and gives life to a dreamlike piece.A ballet that has since become a cult work in the Paris Opera repertoire, Signes embodies the links between painting, music and dance and extends them to the stage. A virtuoso violinist, he composed many Chamber music works and some opéras comique, working with authors such as Choderlos de Laclos.A potential Director of the Royal Academy of Music, his application was denied by a handful of artists who refused the idea of a man born a slave as their leader. Diggi, daggi, shurry, murry, horum, harum…: with this magical spell, young shepherd Bastien will have the power to win back the heart of his beloved shepherdess Bastienne. Mozart composed this short Singspiel at the age of 12. In a stage production by Mirabelle Ordinaire, the action is reframed in a modern funfair where fairgoers come at shooting ranges to shoot cardboard wolves. The fickle Bastien has become the machinist in charge of the stands's maintenance and the twelve musicians play in the bandstand.
