The Paris Opera in French Guiana is a territorial cultural cooperation program launched in November 2022, aiming to make the Paris Opera's missions accessible to all Guyanese people. This documentary series retraces the creation of this program, from the inaugural show in Cayenne to the dance workshops led by the Paris Opera artists in partnership with various collaborators in Cayenne, Kourou, and Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. Episode 1 – The Arrival In November 2022, the Paris Opera in French Guiana was inaugurated with a dance performance featuring Étoile and corps de ballet dancers at the Trois Fleuves hall in Cayenne. Episode 2 – The Encounter Following the performance, the first classical dance workshops begin with Étoile dancers Stéphane Bullion and Muriel Zusperreguy, along with contemporary dance workshops with dancers Takeru Coste and Marion Gautier de Charnacé. Episode 3 – Everyone's a Dancer From Cayenne to Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, passing through Kourou, the Ballet company's dancers meet students with diverse stories and backgrounds who share a common passion: dance! Episode 4 – En voix For the first time, Paris Opera Etoiles, dancers and opera singers will be gathering on the Three Rivers stage in Cayenne. "The Paris Opera in French Guiana" continues with opera vocal workshops at the Conservatoire de Musique, Danse et Théâtre in French Guiana for those who wish to discover their voice. Benjamin Britten composed The Rape of Lucretia in 1946 after a radio-drama by André Obey. Britten and his librettist, two convinced pacifists involved way before WWII, address a European society bruised by war and hate.Running from the grand operatic machine, their inspiration drove them to a more intimate construction, the chamber opera. Britten wrote indeed for a small number of musicians and singers-actors in a musical and dramatic language where the narration exceeds the illusion on stage.Britten chose the myth of the dedicated and suicidal wife and wrote a piece that interrogates desire in its relation with anxiety: mutual love, gulty will and frustration.Britten makes us think about the violence in human relations, about sexuality and its dark zones. With Lucretia as heroin and victim, Britten makes us face the tragic human condition. Following O U I #1, Régine Chopinot is invited to stay in residence at the Academy with O U I #2. Continuing their partnership with Aurore and Habitat & Humanisme, these O U I choreographic experimental workshops are welcoming people in exile, people learning French and persons in precarious situations. Through dance, and putting words into motion, this project aims to offer the tools to a personal, human and social development.Enhancing movement and oral speech, it encourages corporal and language awareness, underlying the fact that language is the common thread of a society and the expression of one’s uniqueness. Understanding the bodies, naming them to find a new unity, naming the space to feel we belong to the heart of it.After this complicated season, the workshops are back to the Amphithéâtre for a new week of creation and filming – the occasion for film director Jean-Baptiste Warluze to create his new musical clip “Le Clap du Clip” and a documentary, O U I #2 . Résidence de la chorégraphe Régine Chopinot à l’Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris, O U I s’adresse à des résidents de centres d’hébergement d’habitat et Humanisme et Aurore.Pendant trois saisons, les participants suivent une série d’ateliers de pratique chorégraphique alliant la danse et l’oralité. Le mouvement lié à la parole est une manière d’apprivoiser le corps et l’espace, de les nommer, de s’y sentir au cœur.Le 12 mars 2022, l’ensemble des participants se sont retrouvés sur la scène de l’Amphithéâtre Olivier Messiaen de l’Opéra Bastille pour clore cette aventure humaine et artistique par un spectacle.
